Somalia's activist Islamist bunch al-Shabab says it has shot dead an unmistakable MP in the capital, Mogadishu.

Ahmed Mohamud Hayd was executed in a drive-by shooting after he exited his lodging in an intensely policed region, witnesses said.

His bodyguard was additionally murdered and a parliamentary secretary injured in the shooting, witnesses included.
